Who We Are.
The A3 Foundation was founded in 2012 by Philip Fung, Julia Lam, and Franklyn Chien, who, along with Alex Wu, were early Facebook employees, and met on a mission to make the world more social.
They felt that they lacked role models in popular culture growing up due to the scarcity of Asian Americans in traditional U.S. media outlets while they were growing up, and set out to build the A3 Foundation to diversify and support new voices in media, whether in traditional television and film, or via new online digital channels.
A3’s Advisory Council includes:
- Harry Shum, Jr (Actor, Glee)
- Jon M. Chu (Director, G.I. Joe Retaliation, Justin Bieber: Never Say Never, Step Up series)
- Konrad Ng (Director, Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center)
- Bing Chen (Global Creator Development & Management Lead, YouTube)
- Hieu Ho (Producer, LXD and President, DS2DIO)
- Sheree Chang (International Business Development, Hulu)
- Mynette Louie (Producer, Children of Invention, California Solo)
